Hey, I'm Matt - I'm an accountant, entrepreneur, and the founder of Elevate Financial Group.

So, why am I writing here?

Well, growing up I didn't know what entrepreneurship was. This was my thought process: graduate high school, get a good job (with benefits and a pension), save a little, and retire at 60. Follow the script.

But here we are. My journey started on that path: graduate high school, go to university (major in the safest subject, accounting), get a job at a 'prestigious firm', and earn my CPA. I was on what Paul Millerd has coined, "the default path".

And then something clicked. Well, a couple things:

1) I could not comprehend sitting in a cubicle for 40 years. Kill me.

2) I wanted to make lots of money.

3) I wanted independence.

So, I started a small boutique financial consulting firm, Elevate Financial. This has witnessed great success and has surpassed $1m in Annual Recurring Revenue over the first 18 months. But it's been hard. Much harder than I thought.

I started writing a few years ago before gaining true experience. In hindsight, I was a fake entrepreneur. I cringe looking back at those articles (which you can still see here).

This is why I'm starting fresh. February 10, 2024 is when I am writing this bio. And this is when I finally feel (semi) qualified to share some stories. It will be wide ranging - from war stories in the trenches of business to the feeling of never enough even when you've achieved more than you thought you ever would.
